Animated artwork I made for a client for their Twitch channel. This is the "Starting Soon" video,, the "Be Right Back" variant has no red ship in it.
The art direction was heavily inspired by the client's love for the iconic Cowboy Bebop as well the video game Hyper Light Drifter.
While I have done a few pixel art stylized commissioned 2D works before, this was my first big jump into making full fledged pixel art animation. Originally I tried to make it all in Aseprite pixel art painting program.. but I soon came to realize it was not designed for huge complex and lengthy animations. Thankfully my experience in After Effects help me after attempting several work around attempts and an eventual (tedious) solution.
Gotta say I'm happy with my first real go at pixel art animation, and will be happy to take on more client work of this kind.
